Blessed by Mother Teresa for his work in the drug abuse, alcoholism and in the HIV / AIDS field, Jatish Shah is a Psychiatric and Addiction Counsellor in Masina Hospital.
Formerly, National Administrator of Kripa Foundation – a national level Non-Governmental Organisation working in the field of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention and Treatment of Addicts, Alcoholics and Poly-Drug Users. He was, in large measure, responsible for the setting up of Rehabilitation and Treatment Centres all over India, especially in North East India.
He is Founder-Member and former Chairman of The Kripa Society, Manipur which works in the field of HIV / AIDS Prevention, including training families in “Home-based care of the HIV / AIDS afflicted”.
He was one among three individuals nation-wide selected to undergo a management training course in Rehabilitation and Counselling at the International Centre for Vocational, Technical and Advanced Training, Turin, Italy under the auspices of the International Labour Organisation.
He is Joint Secretary of the Humanity Health Organisation, a charitable trust comprising like-minded individuals who render yeomen service, both medical and non-medical whenever and wherever needed.
He is also Governing Body Member of Dilaasa, a support and self-help group for families of people with a mental health problem.
Currently, he is with Masina Hospital at Byculla and conceives, initiates and manages programmes of Recovery for Drug Addicts, Alcoholics, Poly-drug users and the dually diagnosed patient, including managing the administrative and day to day efficacious running of the rehabilitation and psychiatric wards.
Along with Dr. Matcheswalla, he, too, shares a common dream of taking Masina Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry to heights of glory.
