ORGANISATION

HUMANITY HEALTH ORGANISATION

Spearheaded by Dr. Yusuf A. Matcheswalla, Humanity Health Organisation is an organization of Socially Enlightened Doctors and like minded individuals addressing a multiple dimension of socially useful causes.

Among the activities undertaken by the Humanity Health Organisation are the generation of awareness of health issues, organization of speciality and general health and medical check-up camps for the community at the grass roots level and serving the treatment needs of the downtrodden and the poverty-stricken. HHO also reaches out to those who are struck by natural disasters such as the recent catastrophic torrential downpours which hit Mumbai city on the 26th July and later the serial rail blasts, the Mumbai terror attacks of 26th November, 2008, Etc.

On-going projects of the HHO a Our on-going projects are

  • Charitable dispensaries
  • Dr. Matcheswalla Charitable Dispensary at Ghodapdeo – Raey Road which is conducted by Dr. Sabiha Syed and Dr. Rashida Shaikh. About 90 to 100 patients benefit from this dispensary
  • HHO Health Centre at Nava Nagar, Dockyard Road, for low income group is run by Dr. Aziz Sawant and Dr. Waheeda Rehman. This centre caters to about 50 patients daily.
  • Dr. Naseemuddin Charitable Health Centre at Dharavi – Sion is conducted by Dr. Naseemuddin Syed and Dr. Parveen Syed. 50 to 60 patients visit this centre daily.

 

Adopted Villages

25 villages have been adopted by the HHO and free medical assistance is provided to the poor and the needy with the cooperation of the local doctors. The total number of people who benefit monthly are 80 to 100 people.

Ambulance Service

Three ambulances are running at extremely subsidized charges for the general public. Dr. A. M. Gabhrani runs this service on a 24 hours basis.

A fourth ambulance has been pressed into service by Dr. Y. A. Matcheswalla. This ambulance is in memory of his late beloved father, Abdulla Hatim Matcheswalla.

Continuing Medical Education

Monthly continuing medical education programmes for the medical fraternity to continually upgrade the skills, knowledge and new medication, procedures and methodology available in the medical world today.


School Check-ups and Health Education

HHO member contribute their invaluable time and expertise to conduct annual health checks and awareness of medical / mental health issues and social issued at school level and college level in the Bombay and Konkan regions. So far 3 camps in the Konkan region and 2 camps in Mumbai have been undertaken.


Multi-Diagnostic Camps and Specialty Medical Camps

With the active cooperation and participation of NGOs and Pharmaceutical companies, HHO organises multi-diagnostic camps, as well as Specialty camps such as diabetes detection camp, weight reduction camps, ophthalmology camps, cardiac camps, de-addiction camps, orthopaedic/Osteoporosis camps, etc.


Public Awareness Meetings

HHO also organises street corner meeting to observe various important social issues such as world no tobacco day, world anti-drug day, awareness of social issues such as child abuse, prostitution, health issues such as TB, AIDS, Cancer and mental health issues such Schizophrenia, depression, etc.


Providing information and guidance

Medical information, information regarding hospital, doctors, accommodation and making recommendations to trusts to render financial assistance to those in need.

HHO has made ambitious plans for the future

  • A fifth ambulance before 31st March, 2010.
  • To start a fourth charitable clinic in Mumbai
  • To adopt at least 5 more villages in this fiscal year
  • To start issuing certificates of participation to those who
    participate in the CMEs
  • To start a mobile clinic in the current year
  • To start a 30 bedded hospital in the Konkan region
  • To start an educational wing
  • To start a ladies wing
  • To embark on a large membership drive where each member is expected to bring in at least 5 new members.
  • To start a fund raising drive
  • To start a home for the aged.
